We have reached a settlement on behalf of Boots Retail (Ireland) Limited relating to a claim that migraine medication was inappropriately supplied without proper advise of a potential contraindication.
The Plaintiff, aged 63, experienced a brain bleed and stroke following the use of migraine medication while also taking an antidepressant.
We represented Boots and all allegations were denied as it was the Plaintiff’s responsibility to disclose her medical history and seek appropriate advice prior to purchasing the medication.
Furthermore, Boots stated that it had no reasonable way of knowing the Plaintiff was taking medication likely to interact adversely with the migraine treatment.
The matter was resolved by us through a settlement, with no admission of liability on Boots’ part.
